Aunt Mary's Cookies opened in North Kansas City over 17 years ago. Her delectable baked goods became very popular and the business moved to its current location at 309 Armour ten years later.
In 2009, Meribeth Boone purchased Aunt Mary's Cookies and made some significant changes. She kept the heavenly cookies, but added much, much more.
Meribeth taught cake decorating for years at Michael's Arts and Crafts stores. After taking over at Aunt Mary's, she added cakes, cake decorating classes and a full line of supplies to her shop, including Wilton Cake Decorating tools. Meribeth's mom, Maggie, asked, "Can I come and play in your kitchen?" Soon, they created an expanded deli that included Maggie's homemade hot lunches on the menu.
But Maggie isn't the only family member involved. Mike, Meribeth's dad, comes in every morning and handles the cookie-baking duties. Some of his creations wind up in the decorative and delicious Cookie Bouquets that Aunt Mary's offers.
Cupcakes, pies and ice cream are available, too. In fact, Aunt Mary's features 112 different flavors of shakes!
